Celebrating the delivery of marine gensets at Tern Dal naming ceremony.

REFERENCE

Proud moment at the Tern Dal naming ceremony after the delivery of four marine gensets onboard the oil tanker operated by Tern Tank.

Power House has delivered and commissioned four PHD16 marine gensets to one of the vessels in Terntank’s new Hybrid Slution Plus-series – Tern Dal.

Our role

We delivered and commissioned the vessel’s auxiliary power solution, consisting of four PHD16 marine gensets (550 kWe), fully compliant with IMO Tier III emission regulations.

With a long-standing partnership with Terntank, Power House was involved early in the project to ensure that the generator configuration and engine integration would be a perfect fit for the vessel’s innovative hybrid design. Our technical team carried out commissioning at the shipyard in China, ensuring the system was fully operational prior to delivery.

The challenge

Tern Dal is the one of the vessels in Terntank’s new Hybrid Solution Plus series, designed to significantly reduce emissions in tanker operations. The project required an auxiliary power solution that could support a highly advanced and energy-efficient vessel design while meeting the latest environmental regulations.

The vessel also integrates new technologies such as wind-assisted propulsion, placing additional demands on power management and system reliability.

Our Solution

Power House delivered a robust and efficient auxiliary power package designed for modern hybrid vessels. The installation included four PHD16 marine gensets, each delivering 550 kWe, providing reliable onboard power while maintaining strict compliance with IMO Tier III emission standards.

The commissioning was carried out at China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Yangzhou) Dingheng, where the vessel was built and delivered in April 2025. After delivery, the ship was equipped with a wind-assisted propulsion system from Econowind at Fayard A/S in Denmark.

Key benefits

  • Reliable auxiliary power through 4 x PHD16 marine gensets (550 kWe)
  • IMO Tier III compliant solution supporting low-emission operations
  • Optimized integration with the vessel’s Hybrid Solution Plus concept
  • Early technical collaboration ensuring tailored and future-ready power system
  • Part of an ongoing partnership between Power House and Terntank across the Hybrid Solution Plus fleet

Results

The deliviery of Tern Dal marks an important milestone in Terntank’s ambition to advance climate-neutral shipping solutions. With a combination of hybrid technology, wind-assisted propultion and modern low-emission power generation, the vessel sets a new benchmark for sustainable tanker operations. Power House is very honored to contribute to the power solutions of this pioneering systems.

At Tern Dal’s naming ceremony in Odense, Denmark, we had the opportunity to tour through the engine room where the PHD16 marine gensets are installed. It was a truly proud moment to see our products onboard this outstanding vessel.
